Feist working for early time

Ronnie Feist was one of the first 2012 pledges to get aboard the LSU recruiting bandwagon. The talented linebacker never wavered in his decision and has taken the steps to push for playing time early in his college career. As one of several fleet footed freshmen, Feist is eager to get on the field and work his way into a contributing role.

"I've had a great time getting to play with some of the best players in the country and work with some of the best coaches in the country," said Feist. "I am just laying the foundation for my college career and it's just been a dream come true for me."

The home state product reports that the Tiger veterans have welcomed the incoming freshmen as part of the family.

"The whole team is just full of good guys," said Feist. "All of the veteran linebackers have been real helpful too.

"I have already learned a lot just from listening to the older guys."

Speaking of older guys, Feist has been rooming with Tiger veterans Anthony Johnson, Mickey Johnson and Tharold Simon.

"I moved in with them this summer," said Feist. "They are all cool guys to hang with and I learned a lot from them since they have played here.

"Mickey does most of the cooking too, but Freak is probably the funniest roommate.

"It's sort of a competition between Freak and Mickey, but I think Freak has the lead right now."

While those guys have a lot of fun off the field, it is all business when they buckle up their chin straps.

LSU defensive coordinator Coach John Chavis would expect nothing less.

Feist reports that the relationship between he and his position coach is a very good one.

"Coach Chavis is a great coach," said Feist. "He is real specific about things and he goes into a lot of detail.

"You can tell that he has a real passion for the game and a real love for it.

"He is just a great linebacker coach and a great defensive coordinator."
