Hunter learning from "The best"

Danielle Hunter is more than just a player with a unique name. The talented Hunter has the skill set that college coaches want in a defensive end. The long and rangy Hunter has the explosiveness and the work ethic to become an excellent college player. Hunter has worked hard in fall camp to demonstrate his skills and show the Tiger defensive coaches just what he brings to the table.

"I feel good about everything," said Hunter. "I didn't come here looking to play my first year, because I thought they would want me to put on some more size.

"Overall, I am just learning the plays, getting my technique down and increasing my speed.

"I am just trying to learn from these older guys on the defensive line."

Sam Montgomery and Barkevious Mingo have different styles of play.

Hunter believes his skill set falls somewhere between the two and that he can learn from each players' experiences.

"Sam tells me something everyday and Mingo, I just watch him all of the time," said Hunter. "People say I am more of a combination of both.

"I feel like I am more like Sam to be honest, more of a power guy.

"I want to put on about 20 pounds, so I can add some size. I still want to keep my speed though."

While Montgomery and Mingo have shown Hunter some tricks of the trade on the field, another veteran has taken the Texas prep star under his wing in other aspects of life as a student athlete.

"Jordan Allen has really helped me a lot," said Hunter. "He has been at practice helping me everyday.

"He is always talking to me about technique and how to get to the tackles edge and get to the quarterback.

"Jordan has answered a lot of my questions about the playbook and really just everything."
