Martin reacts to LSU commitment

Come inside with TSD's Ben Love for the latest live reaction from Jarell Martin and Madison Prep coach Jeff Jones after Martin pledged to LSU Thursday.

BATON ROUGE -- Five-star power forward Jarell Martin (6-8, 215) of Madison Preparatory Academy in Baton Rouge announced his intention to attend LSU Thursday at a ceremony in his high school gym.

Martin gave his commitment to LSU and first-year coach Johnny Jones less than two weeks from the beginning of the early signing period, which tips off Nov. 14.

He becomes the fifth, and most highly rated recruit, for Jones in the Class of 2013.

Already F Tim Quarterman, C John Odo, F Jordan Mickey and F Deng Deng have pledged to the Tigers. Odo will join the team after this Chrismas, but he won't be eligible to play until the 2013-14 season.

I was live at the Jarell Martin announcement and have length Q&A's with both the player and Jeff Jones, his high school coach at Madison Prep.
