With Christmas Break beginning for most high schools this week, Davon Godchaux will use the last part of his time off to get a head start on his recruiting process.
The 6-foot-4, 245-pound defensive end has seen his recruitment pick up steam in recent weeks. The class of 2014 star from Plaquemine Senior High School has been in contact with several new schools, in addition to LSU. One of these schools has his attention.
"The recruiting process is going well," Godchaux said. "Notre Dame has been after me and so has Michigan State. Kansas State has also been on me. LSU is always there and I haven't heard as much from Alabama as I usually do. LSU and Notre Dame are after me like crazy."
While he explained he hasn't received any new offers in recent days, Godchaux feels like he could be receiving a big one in the near future.
"I haven't gotten anything new, except for Louisiana-Lafayette and Southern," Godchaux said. "Notre Dame sent me some letters telling me how interested they were in me. I haven't gotten an offer from them yet, but I think it's coming soon."
One school Godchaux has kept in constant contact with is LSU. He explained that they have been in contact with him quite often in recent weeks, making sure he will be in attendance at their first Junior Day, taking place on Jan. 12.
"They have been keeping me updated on the program," Godchaux said. "They talk a lot about the bowl game and they always talk to me about coming to the Junior Day. I'm definitely going."
Godchaux has been anticipating an offer coming from LSU when he attends their first Junior Day. While he has heard nothing to change his mind about it, Godchaux explained that he isn't going to take it as a negative if he doesn't receive good news from the Tigers soon.
"They said some stuff to me about getting an offer for Junior Day," Godchaux said. "I've heard some rumors about it too. I'm not sure how true they are, but if they offer me, then they offer me. It will be great to get an offer from the home-state school. At the same time, there are other schools I am interested in as well."
Godchaux explained that he is planning on attending the New Orleans Bowl, taking place on Saturday, in order to get a closer look at UL-Lafayette. Other than attending the LSU Junior Day, Godchaux also plans to attend the Army All-American Combine in San Antonio, TX, on Jan. 3.
With his recruitment picking up steam in recent weeks, Godchaux has been able to come up with a top-five list of schools, with one standing out to him at the moment.
"Notre Dame, LSU, Alabama, Texas A&M, and Florida State are my top-five," Godchaux said. "I'm very interested in Notre Dame."
