A school's Junior Day can mean a lot of different things depending on the recruit.
For some it's an opportunity to learn more about a program. For others it's a chance to get an offer. And for a select few, one can make a face-to-face commitment to their future coach.
But for someone like Donovan Isom, who's still searching for that first offer, his trip to Baton Rouge for the "Boys from the Boot" offered up a learning opportunity.
"I had a good time at LSU," Isom said. "I got to see some things. I got to meet a couple of the coaches."
Isom spent most of his visit with quarterbacks coach Steve Kragthorpe. And being the only quarterback prospect in attendance, Isom got plenty of one-on-one time with the LSU assistant.
"He just explained the history of the quarterback at LSU," Isom said. "He gave me a couple pointers, things to work on. We just watched some of my film from last year. That was about it."
Isom was able to return home to Destrehan on Saturday with a list of things to work on, things that could potentially lead to that much-coveted scholarship.
"He watched my film and he said I need to work on my footwork," Isom said. "I knew that. He told me I can throw the ball, but he said to just continue to work on my footwork, and I'm going to get there."
Whether that first one is an LSU offer though is still up in the air. But Isom isn't going to be picky about where No. 1 comes from.
Isom said he's still going to check out schools like ULL and Tulane over the spring and summer, and a return trip to Baton Rouge is also in the works.
"I'm going to continue to work hard on the field," Isom said. "I'll continue throwing with my receivers every day. I'm going to try to go to some camps this summer. I'm going to try to go back to LSU in the spring because they want me to come back."
