Godchaux adds offer

Plaquemine High School DE Davon Godchaux collected another offer this week from Texas Tech. Godchaux discusses that offer and what schools currently sit at the top of his list. With a top three already in place, where will Godchaux visit when the summer rolls around?

Since making a visit to LSU two weeks ago, Davon Godchaux has been taking a much more relaxed approach with his recruitment. Godchaux explained that he doesn't have any plans to dive into his recruitment right now, but he feels that will change once the summer rolls around. Even though the 6-4 245 pound Godchaux has been taking a slower approach to his recruitment, he has received another offer. Godchaux, from Plaquemine High School, has also been hearing rumblings of a certain offer coming his way soon, which he is hoping turns out to be true.

"Everything has been great since my last visit," said Godchaux. "There have been a lot of rumors about LSU offering me soon. I don't know if they are true or not. Texas Tech offered me the other night when one of the coaches called me. A lot more schools have been stopping by my high school."

With the offer from Texas Tech just coming through for Godchaux, he fully expects to check out the school in the future to see how he could fit in there.

"I think it is a good offer," said Godchaux. "There isn't a bad offer. I just need to look into the school a little more. I really need to get out there for a visit."

Being from Louisiana, Godchaux has always had LSU near the top of his list of schools. Godchaux explained that he has maintained steady contact with the LSU staff since visiting Baton Rouge for the Boys from the Boot junior day.

"They said they were going to come to my school some time soon," said Godchaux. "I've just been getting mail and things from them since the visit. And then you have the rumors about me getting offered by them soon. Things with LSU are just fine."

While he has yet to take many college visits, Godchaux explained that he plans on beginning college visits when the summer camp circuit rolls around. However, Godchaux said there is a good chance that he will make another visit to LSU in the near future for another junior day.

"I'd like to go to the LSU national junior day," said Godchaux. "I will probably stop by. I want to camp at LSU, Texas A&M, and Alabama. That is my top three and I really like all three of them. I'm just going to worry about things when camps start and then decide on official visits after that."

Given the fact that Godchaux has not had a chance to really start narrowing things down in his recruitment, one would suspect that he wouldn't already have a top list of schools. However, Godchaux already knows what three SEC powers he would like to learn more about, especially the newest member of the conference.

"LSU, Alabama, and Texas A&M are the schools that are at the top of my list," said Godcchaux. "Notre Dame and Florida are up there in addition to Texas Tech. I really like Texas A&M. Coach [Kevin] Sumlin has done some amazing things there in a short period of time. They are right up there with LSU in terms of interest."
