Beckwith ready for Wednesday

LSU commitment Kendell Beckwith took a visit to the Baton Rouge campus recently and came away impressed. With signing day approaching, Beckwith is more ready than ever to fax in his paperwork and join the LSU program.

When Kendell Beckwith signs with LSU on Wednesday, it will seal the future that the four-star prospect has always dreamed of. The 6-2 220 pound Beckwith gave the Tigers his verbal commitment on national television a month ago and made his official visit to the Baton Rouge campus shortly thereafter.

The Under Armour All-American went into his LSU visit looking to get comfortable with his future teammates and get any questions answered that he had about the program at his future school. After spending a few days on campus, Beckwith is very comfortable with the program.

"The visit went really well," said Beckwith. "I got a bunch of questions answered by the coaching staff and everything. It was just a great all around visit. I got to experience the atmosphere of campus when football wasn't going on. I learned a lot about the place."

The visit to the LSU campus also reminded Beckwith why he ultimately chose the home-state school.

"The visit to campus really reaffirmed my decision to go to LSU," said Beckwith. "I had a great time down there with everyone. LSU is a great place and the visit certainly had no bad aspects to it."

One of the main things that Beckwith intended on figuring out during his visit to LSU was where the coaches plan to have him line up once he is on campus. Contrary to rumors, Beckwith will play the position he was recruited for.

"The coaches broke it down for me on where I will play and everything," said Beckwith. "They are making plans on defense to have me at outside linebacker once I get there."

While he is an LSU commitment, Beckwith explained that the LSU coaching staff treated him like an uncommitted prospect while he was on his visit, something that made Beckwith feel even more at home in Baton Rouge.

"I got a chance to talk to the coaching staff a lot," said Beckwith. "I got to meet with everyone the entire time I was there and they ate dinner and breakfast with me.

"They acted like I wasn't a commitment yet and really showed me a great time. We had a lot of great conversations and it was a great experience."

Beckwith also had a chance to bond with several of his future teammates and he expects that the friendships that he formed on his visit will only continue to grow.

"It was really cool getting to hang out with all of the other commitments," said Beckwith. "I got most of their numbers and we have a really close bond already. I don't know who my roommate will be, but I'm sure everyone will be cool when I get there."

With signing day just around the corner, the East Feliciana High School standout explained that he is ready to get his paperwork in. Beckwith said that he would sign with the Tigers during a ceremony at his high school on Wednesday morning.

"It will start at nine and I am signing at 9:30 at a little ceremony at my high school," said Beckwith. "I'm ready to get this chapter of my life done and move on to bigger things."

Beckwith explained that the excitement of getting to LSU would only build once he sends in his letter of intent. There is one thing about LSU that Beckwith is really looking forward to experiencing.

"I'm really ready to get to LSU," said Beckwith. "I'm just ready to get the opportunity to play in front of the crowd there. It is a great environment and I will get to play in front of family. I can't wait."
