Malone commits to LSU

Come inside for the latest on LSU basketball's most recent commitment in the Class of 2013 from TSD's Matt McCurdy.

Sources confimed today that Australian 7-footer Darcy Malone has committed to LSU, after a visit to Baton Rouge last week for the Missouri game.

This has also been confirmed by the Twitter account of ACT Academy of Sports in Australia (@theACTAS), where Malone plays and is a scholarship holder.

Malone is a member of the Australian U17 team. Besides being from Australia, Malone has a closer connection to LSU assistant coach David Patrick. Malone is from Canberra, which is the home of Patrick Mills. Patrick recruited Mills to St. Marys and the two remain close. Mills, of the San Antonio Spurs, spent time working out with Malone during the NBA lockout.

Malone has also played on various Australian junior teams with LSU prospects Dante Exum and Ben Simmons.

Malone's Australian club team is Wests Magpies.

TSD has been in contact with Malone, but not since his commitment. I am expecting a response from him soon and will provide quotes and additional information.

Malone is expect to a part of the 2013 signing class.
