LSU will host its second Junior Day for the 2014 class on Saturday. The staff is expecting a huge number of attendees with a solid mixture of committed and uncommitted, in-state and out-of-state prospects.
TSD will provide you with coverage all day Saturday and throughout the following week with all the news to come out of this major recruiting event. To get you ready for the day, TSD has a list of confirmed attendees for Saturday, with tidbits of information to help set the scene.
TE Jacory Washington - Westlake, LA - Westlake
OG William Clapp - New Orleans, LA - Brother Martin
CB Chris Hardeman - Houston, TX - Alief Taylor
ATH Devin Voorhies - Woodville, MS - Wilkinson County
All four of LSU's 2014 commits will be on campus Saturday for Junior Day. The recruits will have another chance to get acclimated to things at LSU and continue to develop comfort with the program and coaching staff. Having this group on campus will also help in the recruiting efforts as they can sell the program and explain to other prospects why they opted to pledge to LSU. These players have been vocal in that aspect, especially Hardeman who has made it clear he wants to play a part in helping build the class.
DL Gerald Willis - New Orleans, LA - Edna Karr
RB Leonard Fournette - New Orleans, LA - St. Augustine
WR Devante Noil - New Orleans, LA - Edna Karr
This highly touted in-state trio is set to make the trip together. The three players have developed a strong friendship throughout the recruiting process, which can only be a good thing for LSU. Of the group, Noil appears to be the strongest lean to LSU, though the Tigers appear to be in great shape for all three. The trio has been to campus enough times to have seen all there is to see, but more facetime can only be a good thing with relationships being such an important part of their recruitment.
DL Garrald McDowell - Covington, LA - Covington
DL Davon Godchaux - Plaquemine, LA - Plaquemine
CB Terrence Alexander - River Ridge, LA - John Curtis
This trio of prospects doesn't yet hold an offer from LSU but most consider them some of the next in line to receive one. It's uncertain whether this weekend will be the time they finally do, as the staff may wait through the spring evaluation period to make a final decision. But the more time they spend around the program (Alexander didn't attend "Boys from the Boot") the better their chances will be.
RB Dontrell Hilliard - Baton Rouge, LA - Scotlandville
LB Rae Juan Marbley - Destrehan, LA - Destrehan
DL La'Allan Clark - Baton Rouge, LA - Central
WR Leondre James - Donaldsonville, LA - Donaldsonville
DB Malcolm Darensbourg - Destrehan, LA - Destrehan
DB Joe Ledet - Longville, LA - South Beauregard
DB Daniel Lewis - New Iberia, LA - New Iberia
RB/S James Cox - Hammond, LA - St. Thomas Aquinas
This group only cracks the surface of the Louisiana prospects expected on campus this weekend. The staff sent out invites to almost any college-level prospect in the state, and most are coming simply with expectations of getting to spend some time at LSU. Some may have better prospects of landing on LSU's radar than others, but this weekend should at least be an incredible collection of Louisiana talent.
DB Edward Paris - Arlington, TX - Mansfield Timberview - Paris confirmed on Twitter Friday evening that he was en route to Baton Rouge. He has always had LSU high on his list, and has said he plans to announce his commitment on March 29 with intentions of enrolling early. Getting Paris on board early could get the dominos in place for LSU to strike gold in a very talented state of Texas for 2014.
LB Greg Miclisse - Palm Bay, FL – Bayside – this big inside linebacker prospect will be on campus to check out one of his many suitors. Miclisse holds 11 offers at this point and will be hoping to pick one up from the Tigers this weekend. Miclisse has received a lot of attention and his recruitment has really started to pick up as he has added four offers in February alone.
WR Keenen Brown - Houston, TX - Alief Taylor – this four-star prospect is teammates of current commit Chris Hardeman. This will Mark Brown's first college visit and he has high hopes of landing an offer from LSU. He already holds nine offers with schools like Oklahoma, Ole Miss and Michigan State on his list.
DE Noah Westerfield - Frisco, TX – Wakeland – Westerfield recently told Scout's Erin Hartigan if he were to receive an offer from LSU, he'd probably commit on the spot. Westerfield most recently visited Baton Rouge for the LSU-Alabama game in November.
S Trey Marshall - Lake City, FL – Columbia – Marshall holds offers from Tennessee, Miami, FIU and South Florida. LSU has long been on his list of favorite programs, and he'll get a chance to check out campus this weekend.
LB Jake Blomstrom - Katy, TX – Katy – This linebacker from Texas powerhouse Katy High School doesn't yet hold any offers but has received attention from plenty of programs. Blomstrom most recently attended Oklahoma State's Junior Day and has been looking forward to this LSU trip for some time.
TE Davi'on Riley - Lake Wales, FL - Lake Wales - a 6-foot-4 TE out of Florida. He has three offers from Miami, Tennessee and Massachusetts
2015 QB Chris Riddle - Arlington, VA - Bishop O' Connell – Riddle has emerged as one of LSU's QB targets for the 2015 class. Riddle said Notre Dame and Georgia have showed him a lot of interest, and LSU recently joined in the mix. Riddle should also benefit by getting some face time with new offensive coordinator/QB coach Cam Cameron.
PROSPECTS EXPECTED BUT STILL UNDECIDED:
OL Garrett Brumfield - Baton Rouge, LA - U-High
LB Petera Wilson - Memphis, TN - White Station
DE/OLB Rashaan Evans - Auburn, AL – Auburn
All three of these prospects hold LSU offers and have stated publicly they might show up to Junior Day. The staff would obviously love to get them on campus to get some one-on-one time with these highly-regarded recruits with hopes of possibly landing an early commitment.
