Basketball Interview Tidbits

Come inside with TSD's Ben Love for the latest from LSU coach Johnny Jones, who met with the media Monday morning.

LSU coach Johnny Jones met with the media today in advance of the Tigers' game at Tennessee Tuesday night.

He spoke about the progress of his team and also on where LSU stands with recruiting in terms of the Class of 2013, given that four players have signed and two more are committed.

Here were his quotes on the 2013 class.

"We're always actively recruiting and putting ourselves in a position that we want the LSU basketball team to be the best that it could possibly be. That's just an ongoing process really for us for this year and for years to come."

"I think you always have to be prepared because you just never know what's going to happen, be it transfers, injuries or early entry into the (NBA) Draft. You just never know, so you have to always really protect yourself in that aspect. So you have to always be aggressively recruiting. I don't think you can halfway do it."

"If one of those things should occur, I think you put yourself behind if you're not full-tilt. That's just the way we operate and we work. It's always easier to back off if its not needed than to turn it up at a late date."
