Petera Wilson, a standout at White Station High School in Memphis, TN, has seen his stock take off over the last several months. At 6-2 220 pounds, Wilson is the type of middle linebacker that many colleges covet. The three-star prospect has collected several new offers in recent weeks and is ready to begin the visit process. While the recruiting process is becoming hectic for Wilson, he wouldn't have it any other way.
"The recruiting process has gotten very intense these last few weeks," said Wilson. "But, I don't have a whole lot to complain about because offers are starting to roll in."
One school that threw their name into the hat early in the process is LSU. Wilson explained that LSU is an easy school to like because of their coaching staff.
"I love the LSU coaches," said Wilson. "Les Miles and Death Valley are two great selling points for them. My biggest concern is coaching prestige and LSU definitely has that."
The LSU offer also had a pretty big impact on Wilson.
"It was a big accomplishment for me," said Wilson. "It is awesome that LSU is interested in me enough to offer me and want me to commit."
Even though he stays in fairly regular contact with the LSU staff, Wilson explained that he would like to hear from them a little bit more.
"I haven't heard much recently, like in the last week or two," said Wilson. "They are still sending me letters and things, but I haven't heard from them over the phone in a week or two. I hope they get back to me soon."
Wilson was slated to attend the LSU junior day that took place on February 16th. However, due to some other commitments, Wilson could not attend. Tiger fans shouldn't worry as Wilson will be on the Baton Rouge campus soon enough.
"I didn't have a chance to make it in for the junior day," said Wilson. "I haven't gotten a chance to really attend any junior days this spring. I'm planning on visiting down there in the next four weeks or so. I'm coming down for the spring game and it is already on my calendar."
Aside from the coaching staff being a selling point for LSU with Wilson, there is one other thing that is working in favor of the Tigers.
Class of 2013 LSU signee Frank Herron is someone that Wilson has gotten very familiar with. His connection to Herron goes all the way back to middle school and Wilson explained that Herron being at LSU could influence his decision.
"I used to go to middle school with him," said Wilson. "It kind of will influence my decision because he would be a great mentor for me because he is someone that I know and he will straight shoot me. Frank being at LSU would make me more comfortable."
With visits also planned to Florida State and Georgia this spring, Wilson is in no rush to make a college choice. However, once he sees a school that he is comfortable at, his recruitment could end quickly.
"I would have no hesitation at all with making a decision early," said Wilson. "If I see somewhere that I am comfortable at, I will make the call. But, everyone is pretty much even at this point and I would like to wait to make a decision."
