Thomas wants to hear from LSU

With Chad Thomas recently coming out with his top-three, he has started to plan college visits. One of those three schools has moved up his list in recent weeks, and Thomas has plans to visit that campus over the summer.

Over the early months of his recruitment, Chad Thomas has collected offers from schools around the country such as Florida State, Miami, LSU, and Texas A&M, among others. The 6-5 240 pound Thomas, a standout at Booker T. Washington High School in Miami, Fl, has only gotten the first taste of the recruiting process. While he hasn't added any new offers to his list in recent weeks, Thomas explained that he is starting to settle into the process.

"Everything is going smoothly," said Thomas. "I haven't really gotten any new offers recently, but I've been talking to a lot of coaches. I'm starting to get used to everything now."

Because he hasn't added any new offers in recent weeks, Thomas has kept his top-three in place that he came up with several weeks ago. However, one school has peaked his interest recently.

"I have a top three of Miami, Florida State, and LSU are my top-three," said the four-star for 2014. "LSU is way up there for me now."

Thomas, who collected 54 tackles and 4.5 sacks as a junior, explained that there are multiple reasons for LSU being high on his list.

"It's a great school in the SEC," said Thomas. "They are known for their defensive ends recently and I think I play like they do. I think I would fit in great there. Plus, the coaches are great."

Even though LSU has caught the attention of Thomas, he explained that he hasn't heard from the staff in quite some time, something he would like to happen in the near future.

"I haven't talked to them in a while," said Thomas. "The last time I talked to a coach from there was like two months ago. It was some time after I received an offer from them. I would like to hear from them again soon."

While he hasn't heard from the staff in a while, Thomas will still visit Baton Rouge to take in the LSU campus in the near future. When that will happen depends on a conversation that Thomas has yet to have with his high school coach.

"I will be taking a visit there sometime over the summer," said Thomas. "I'd have to talk with my coach on when that will be, but they are one school that I definitely want to visit."

Aside from his plans to visit LSU, Thomas explained that nothing else is currently in the works in terms of seeing other schools.

"I haven't really planned any other visits at this point," said Thomas. "I'm just focused on getting to LSU right now."

With Thomas being from Florida, one would assume that staying in his home state for college would be on his mind. However, Thomas explained that he is definitely open to leaving the state for college.

"I'm open to leaving the state," said Thomas. "Leaving wouldn't be a problem for me. I have to give myself a chance to see what is out there because there are a lot of good schools outside of Florida."

Thomas also added that he intends to make his college choice known on Signing Day in 2014.
