When Davion Hall committed to Baylor in February, he had no idea how much his recruitment would take off shortly thereafter. A few weeks after making his commitment to the Bears, the 6-3 193 pound Hall pulled in an offer from LSU, something that led to the talented safety prospect changing his status to a soft commitment. Hall, a standout for Liberty-Eylau High School in Texarkana, Tx., has also added another offer in recent days and is just taking everything in stride at this point in the process.
"Everything is starting to get a little crazy with recruiting," said Hall. "I got an offer from Stanford three days ago, but that's about all that has happened. I'm just sitting back and taking everything in and keeping it open. I'm still committed to Baylor, but I want to keep my recruitment open in case I end up liking something else more."
When he received the LSU offer, Hall explained that he was surprised. It also excited him because LSU is the type of school that he would like to play for at the next level.
"I was really surprised about it when they offered me," said Hall. "That offer was what really opened things back up for me. They are a big team in the SEC and that is the kind of school that I want to play for."
Steve Ensminger has taken the lead for LSU in the recruitment of Hall and the two have stayed in regular contact. Because of other commitments, the class of 2014 five-star has not had a chance to call the LSU staff, something he hopes to do soon at the request of Les Miles.
"I actually talked to Coach Ensminger the other day and he put Corey Raymond on the phone and we talked a little bit," said Hall. "I haven't had a chance to call him back, but I need to because Coach Miles wants to speak with me as well."
Hall explained that he hopes to visit Baton Rouge to check out LSU at some point in the near future, either for spring practice or for summer camp.
"I'm going to try to take in spring football or during the summer," said Hall. "I would probably come for a camp if I came in the summer."
In terms of other visits besides LSU, Hall said he would likely wait to take any more visits until the fall.
Even though he remains committed to Baylor, Hall explained that he has four schools that have really caught his attention, including the Bears.
"Aside from Baylor, my top schools are LSU, Arkansas, and Alabama," said Hall. "Alabama sends me a lot of stuff and I'm hoping for an offer from them, but I don't talk to them at all."
Hall also explained that a final decision likely wouldn't come until very late in the process, regardless of where he plans to go to school.
"I think I would wait until signing day to make a final decision, even if I find something that I like more than Baylor," said Hall.
