LSU in pursuit of Florida QB

Following a productive junior season, quarterback Chase Litton has collected a couple of new offers to go along with the one he already had from LSU. Litton is starting the visit process and he will kick it off this weekend with a trip to a school within the state lines of Florida.

Wharton High School (Tampa, FL) standout Chase Litton has seen his recruitment pick up some steam in 2013. The 6-6 190 pound quarterback garnered a lot of early interest after having a productive sophomore season. Litton followed that up with a junior year that saw him throw for 2,732 yards with 23 touchdowns and ten interceptions. That production has resulted in a couple of new offers coming through for the three-star prospect in recent weeks, with a visit to one of those schools taking place in the near future.

"The recruitment has been pretty good over the last several weeks," said Litton. "I picked up two offers from USF and Western Michigan. I'm actually visiting USF on Saturday. They have about five of us visiting that they want to be together. A bunch of coaches have come by recently to check on me as well."

Prior to his junior season, Litton received an offer from LSU. While the contact has slowed down a little bit since he first received the offer, Litton explained that he hears from the LSU staff on a pretty regular basis.

"I've been receiving hand written letters and phone calls from LSU recently," said Litton. "The contact has slowed down a little bit since I initially got the offer, but they are still communicating with me pretty frequently."

Since receiving the offer from LSU, Litton has maintained strong interest in the Bayou Bengals. There are several aspects of LSU that have caught the attention of Litton at this point in process.

"LSU is LSU and I have a lot of interest in them," said Litton. "They are definitely up there on my list because they are a big program that is known for putting guys in the league."

"How they handle themselves on and off the field also stands out to me. Everything I have seen about them is just crazy and it really gets you ready to play when that many fans are cheering for you. It would be a great place to play."

When LSU hired Cam Cameron to revamp an offense that has struggled in recent years, there was yet another aspect of the Tigers that Litton took notice of.

"I haven't had a chance to speak with coach Cameron yet, but I'm sure I will soon," said Litton. "LSU has always been a spread team in the passing game, but they run the ball."

"It caught my attention when they hired him. It is going to be cool watching him coach a team like LSU with the talent that they have. He also knows what it takes to get to the next level."

Aside from the contact that he has been receiving from LSU, Litton explained that there are several other schools that have ramped up their pursuit of him recently.

"USF and Georgia have been in contact with me a lot recently," said Litton. I get a lot of stuff from Alabama. West Virginia and Vanderbilt have also been in there."

Following his visit this weekend to South Florida, Litton has a couple of other visits that he is planning to take in the coming months.

"I'm going to the Elite 11 on April 11th," said Litton. "I'll visit Georgia after that because I will be in the area. I'm going to be going to LSU this summer for camp and definitely in the fall to visit the campus."
