After seeing a breakdown of where LSU has been active around the country, it is becoming apparent that they are attempting to do something in the 2014 class that hasn't happened in several years. The LSU coaching staff is really attempting to make a big splash in both Texas and Florida in this recruiting cycle, with results already being noticed. Four of LSU's commitments hail from those two states (three from Texas and one from Florida).

LSU coaches Corey Raymond and Thomas McGaughey have been two of the most active coaches in the state of Texas because it is so loaded with defensive back talent for 2014. The Tigers have already had some success in that department by locking up Chris Hardeman and Ed Paris, two top defensive backs from the Lone Star State. LSU is sure to land at least one more secondary player from the state as well. All in all, Texas is a big focus of the staff this year and their hard work is already starting to pay off.

The Tigers will look to their own state to fill the core of their recruiting class. With the state of Louisiana having numerous highly ranked players for the class of 2014, the staff has the freedom to pick and choose who they want from out of state.

One position that the staff has been looking out of state for is a quarterback. LSU has offers out to players from all over the Midwest and Southeast parts of the country at the position. It appears that new LSU offensive coordinator Cam Cameron is looking far and wide for a quarterback that will fit well into the new offense he brought with him to Baton Rouge. Even though they have offers out around the country at the position, LSU's quarterback in the 2014 class may well come from the state of Louisiana.

The 2014 LSU class will likely end up with a good mix of Louisiana players and players from around the country, much like it has in past recruiting cycles. The only difference this year is that there will be a more noticeable amount of players from the state of Texas to go along with them.
