One of the final major quarterback dominoes will fall today.
Louisiana's No. 1 QB Brandon Harris (No. 7 in the country) will announce his commitment at 2 p.m. in his Parkway HS library. His announcement will be streamed live on ESPN's Web site, when he'll choose from one of his three finalists — LSU, Auburn and Ohio State.
Harris was a late-bloomer on the QB radar. Colleges really started paying attention to him once his junior highlight film hit the circuit. His offer list blew up once college coaches got to see him in person during the evaluation period.
Auburn and Ohio State offered on the same day, May 2, becoming two of the seven schools that would offer him that week. Harris had been on LSU's radar since new offensive coordinator Cam Cameron had taken the helm, but it wasn't until Cameron evaluated him in person on May 8 that the interest really gained steam.
Following that workout, Harris picked up an offer from LSU and shot up the Tigers' board, surpassing Mason Rudolph and DeShone Kizer.
About a week later, on May 17, Harris narrowed his list to a final seven schools — LSU, Ohio State, Auburn, Alabama, Texas A&M, Ole Miss and Baylor.
He made his first unofficial visit to LSU on May 25 for the Tigers' Bayou Cookout. He also visited Alabama and Ohio State before the end of the month. But as time passed, some of his suitors found their quarterbacks. Texas A&M landed Kyle Allen and Alabama got David Cornwell.
Harris eventually narrowed it down to his current finalists, but even now it appears LSU is a clear favorite. The Buckeyes already have Stephen Collier in their class, and Auburn picked up Sean White on Tuesday.
Especially after Harris' most recent visit to LSU on Monday for the Tigers' Elite Camp, it seems his future is certainly in purple and gold.
We'll find out for sure today at 2 p.m.
