Brandon Harris made it official Thursday, announcing his commitment to LSU.
He becomes the 14th member of the Tigers' 2014 class and the first quarterback of the group. He's been the top QB on LSU's board since receiving an offer in early May, and he officially joined the class Thursday.
Harris chose LSU over his other two finalists, Auburn and Ohio State, opting to stay closer to home. The Parkway HS (Bossier City) standout will enroll at LSU in January with hopes of competing right away for playing time.
"I get the opportunity to compete as a freshman," Harris said. "By me getting to enroll early and go through spring practice, I get a great shot at getting to start as a freshman...It was just a different vibe [at LSU]. When I went to all these other places, I didn't' feel that same vibe. With [Cam Cameron's] ability to coach quarterbacks at a NFL-level, I knew that's where I watned to be."
Though Auburn and Ohio State put up a significant fight, the opportunity to play in front family won out.
"Why not play for the biggest school in the state of Louisiana," he said.
