Inside TSD's Top 50

Now that our top 50 LSU football players for the 2013 season have been revealed, it's time to take a look at how the chips fell. TSD's Ben Love breaks down the rankings by position and dishes out fun facts on this edition of the Tigers.

With the Tigers reporting to campus Sunday and beginning practice Monday, today marks the final weekday before LSU football is back in our lives for the next five-plus months.

All summer long TSD has been filling the void by counting down our selections for the top 50 players on LSU's team for the upcoming 2013 season. Today the countdown came to an end with running back Jeremy Hill assuming the top spot in the rankings.

Here are a few fun facts and a positional breakdown of our top 50 list, followed by the entire list itself (complete with links to every player's write-up).

FUN FACTS

- Jeremy Hill, currently indefinitely suspended, received two votes for No. 1. Lamin Barrow, who finished second, received the other (three TSD staff members voted in total).

- At No. 26, true freshman Anthony Jennings came in well ahead of Stephen Rivers (No. 45) despite falling behind him on the quarterback depth chart as the team enters Fall Camp.

- The highest-rated true freshman was cornerback Tre'Davious White at No. 21.

- After Barrow, the second highest linebacker in our rankings was sophomore Kwon Alexander at No. 14. He exited spring ball not even in the starting lineup.

- According to news TSD reported two weeks ago, our third-rated offensive lineman, redshirt senior Josh Williford (No. 19), is likely no longer in the starting lineup. But redshirt freshman Jerald Hawkins (No. 32) may well be.

- Linebacker is one of the real strengths of LSU's team in 2013. These rankings reflect that. Of the seven position players to make this list, six of them fell between No. 2 (Barrow) and No. 29 (D.J. Welter).

- Finally, on a special teams note, the only player to make our countdown was punter Jamie Keehn at No. 42. Long snapper Reid Ferguson did receive a vote.
