Blakes talks LSU visit

LSU got an official visit this weekend from San Bernadino (Cal.) Junior College guard Gerry Blakes. The player recapped his visit and where he stands with TSD's Matt McCurdy.

Junior College guard Gerry Blakes had a very positive official visit to LSU, but is not close to committing at this point.

During an interview with TSD this morning, Blakes said he will take a visit to Arizona State on Thursday and then decide his timetable. After previously saying he would sign in the early period, Blakes said he is now considering waiting until the spring to choose a college.

"It's all up in the air at this point," he said.

Blakes is a 6-4 guard at San Bernadino (Ca.) Junior College. He signed with Hawaii out of high school, before taking the junior college route. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Regarding the LSU visit: "It went well. I had some great conversations. It would be a big-time opportunity. They have great facilities."

Blakes was squired around town by his host, freshman Jarell Martin. He ate dinner at Ruth's Chris and stayed at the Lod Cook Hotel.

He said they did not go out to any clubs, but mainly hung out and played basketball.

New Mexico JC guard Jeff Newberry will arrive in Baton Rouge for his official visit on Friday.

Official visit goes well for Blakes
