Epps commits to LSU

Tioga PF/C Aaron Epps became LSU's first verbal commitment in the Class of 2014 Monday morning when he pledged to the Tigers following his official visit this weekend. TSD's Matt McCurdy has the latest inside.

LSU basketball got its first commitment in the Class of 2014 Monday morning with Tioga big man Aaron Epps pledged to Johnny Jones and the Tigers following an official visit to campus this weekend.

"I love everything about LSU: the coaches, the players, the atmosphere -- everything," Epps told TSD minutes after his commitment. "I told my mother when I was younger that I'd go to LSU."

Tioga head coach Lance Brasher shared more information on his star player: "Aaron made a really big jump this summer. He can really shoot it. He's extended his range out to 17-19 feet. That's his strength. He was second in the state in the high jump. His only weakness right now is his strength. He gets pushed around.

"He's a really good student. He takes AP (advanced placement) classes and has a 3.5 gpa. If you would have told me two years ago that LSU and other schools would be recruiting him, I wouldn't have believed it. He's made a lot of improvement and grown a lot."
