LSU (1-1) broke into the win column Saturday night for the first time in 2013-14 with an 88-74 win over in-state foe Northwestern State (2-1).

The Demons kept it close into the second half before the Tigers ran away with an 11-0 run beginning at the 8:40 mark of the second stanza.

Johnny O'Bryant and Andre Stringer led the way for LSU with 21 points apiece. O'Bryant registered his second double-double in as many games, tacking on 14 rebounds. The big man did commit six turnovers, however.

Stringer, despite connecting on only 7-of-20 shots, did have a night to remember. The senior from Jackson, Miss., reached the 1,000-point plateau with 7:08 to play in the ballgame when he made an acrobatic lay-up to make it 74-57.

Freshman Jordan Mickey also had his second consecutive double-double, putting up 10 points and 13 rebounds to go with six blocks.

NSU had only two double-digit scorers for the game - forward DeQuan Hicks (16 points and 11 rebounds) and guard Brison White (17 points and seven rebounds).

The Tigers return to action Tuesday night against UNO before playing Southeastern on Friday.
