Change in the air

With two consecutive losses in the rearview mirror, LSU coach Johnny Jones says he will make a change in the starting lineup. TSD publisher Ben Love has the latest inside from Jones as well as several LSU players, including Anthony Hickey and Jarell Martin.

LSU (9-4, 0-1) is fresh off consecutive home losses, the latest an 18-point beatdown at the hands of conference foe Tennessee in the SEC opener.

Before the Tigers travel to Columbia, aiming to reverse course against South Carolina (7-7, 0-1) on Saturday, second-year head coach Johnny Jones confirmed there will be a change in the team's starting lineup.

"We'll certainly have to address it (our starting lineup) sooner than later," Jones told reporters. "We got exposed a bit on Tuesday."

While Jones refused to expand on the upcoming move, it's been speculated Jarell Martin will come off the bench with senior Shavon Coleman inserted into Martin's customary starting spot at the three.

"A lot of times in games you want to make sure you get off to the right start with whatever lineup it may be," continued Jones. "The guys who have started, they're going to continue play and get minutes, and they'll have a chance to get back to that level (starting lineup).

"But we have to make sure that when we start the game, we set the tone. It's not always about scoring. Defensively, you have to get stops and rebound the basketball because the first few minutes say a lot about how the game will be played."
