In the month of June alone he visited LSU, Louisville, Tennessee, South Carolina, South Florida and North Carolina State. Out of all those programs, it was LSU that stood out most, and he eventually gave them his commitment on June 28. Battle, an aspiring broadcaster, cited LSU's journalism school as a big reason why he chose the Tigers in addition to their reputation as DBU.
Battle is a long, lean defensive back that will likely fit best as a free safety on the next level. He's an intelligent player that reads the quarterback well and makes clean breaks on the ball. He has great closing speed and has a knack for creating turnovers, whether it be an interception or a fumble forced by a big hit.
As it stands right now, there aren't any safeties on the LSU roster with a guaranteed spot in the starting lineup. There's an opening for this incoming batch of freshmen to compete for playing time, and Battle will have his sights set on making an early impact.
