Godchaux, Clark stick with LSU

LSU entered National Signing Day with two soft commits, but the Tigers received good news from both as Davon Godchaux and Deondre Clark have officially signed.

LSU received good news Wednesday from both of its two soft commits.

Davon Godchaux put weeks of speculation to rest when he signed his National Letter of Intent with the Tigers. This one truly did come down to the wire as Ole Miss made a very strong late push to add the four-star DE to their class.

But the Tigers held on as Godchaux cited his relationship to the LSU program and proximity to home as the main reasons he stuck. Godchaux is still rehabbing from a torn ACL he suffered the first week of his senior season, but he does plan to be ready for fall camp.

Deondre Clark followed suit later in the day though it appeared at first he would delay his announcement until Thursday. Inclement weather forced school closures in Oklahoma City, canceling his originally planned signing ceremony.

But Clark decided not to hold out any longer and sent his NLI to the Tigers on Wednesday afternoon. Keeping him in the class is a big plus for the Tigers as they hold off a late charge from Oklahoma.

Though Clark's mother had expressed her desire for her son to stay close to home, the four-star DE opted to stick with the commitment he made this past summer.

LSU has not yet officially announced Clark's signing, though multiple sources have confirmed that his NLI is in-hand but has not been verified. The plan is for LSU to formally announce Clark as a signee on Thursday.
