Jones: LSU "just not there yet"

The Tigers fell short of Georgia Thursday night in a game LSU needed heading down the stretch of SEC play. Following the 91-78 defeat in Athens, coach Johnny Jones reacted to his team's defensive effort, sharing his take on where LSU stands.

ATHENS, Ga. – Prior to Thursday night, LSU had won two consecutive games, including a home victory over No. 11 Kentucky, and four of five games overall.

The Tigers couldn't make it three in a row versus Georgia, falling 91-78 to the Bulldogs in Stegeman Coliseum.

In his postgame remarks, coach Johnny Jones said his LSU team is "just not there yet," still struggling to find consistency, particularly on the road, at the midway point of the SEC schedule.

"If we were there, we'd be able to play two (big) games last week and be able to bounce back, come on the road and make the necessary plays early on to set the tone to win the basketball game," Jones said. "We didn't do that tonight. We've got to continue to grow."
