Eighth-grade quarterback commits to LSU

TSD confirmed Saturday that 2018 QB Zadock Dinkelmann committed to LSU. The eighth grader, nephew of Ty Detmer, received an offer from Cam Cameron on Friday and made his pledge on the spot.

They say it's never too early in recruiting. Well LSU might be testing those limits.

The Tigers received a commitment Friday from 2018 — yes, 2018! — quarterback Zadock Dinkelmann (Somerset, Texas). The eight-grade gunslinger landed an offer from LSU offensive coordinator Cam Cameron and made his pledge on the spot.

Originally reported as just an offer, word started to emerge Saturday that Dinkelmann had actually made a commitment. TSD was able to confirm the news with sources on the LSU side Saturday.

At 6-foot-4, 200 pounds, Dinkelmann already has the size of a high school senior and the lineage to boot. Dinkelmann's uncles are Ty and Koy Detmer, and just about every relative he has played quarterback competitively on some level.

With four years until Dinkelmann's National Signing Day, it's nearly impossible to predict what will happen in that span. But at least for now, he's committed to LSU and hasn't even completed junior high yet.
