2016 QB commits to LSU

Four-star QB Feleipe Franks, one of the top signal callers in the 2016 class, committed to LSU on Sunday.

2016 four-star QB Feleipe Franks (Crawfordville, Fla. | Wakulla) committed to LSU on Sunday morning.

Franks was the Tigers' top QB target for the Class of 2016, and they've been the team to beat since offering in April. Franks made his first visit to campus for the Spring Game on April 5, and quickly moved LSU to the top of his list.

His family has a strong relationship to special teams coordinator Bradley Dale Peveto, who's been his lead recruiter along with Cam Cameron. The LSU offensive coordinator fell in love with his ability as a passer and made him a big priority.

Franks was on campus this past weekend for the Bayou Picnic, his third visit to LSU in less than two months. He was on campus earlier this spring, as his family made a trip up to attend the LSU baseball team's series against Alabama. That afforded them the opportunity to see campus and get to know the football coaches even better.

That relationship only continued to grow, and both Cameron and Peveto were in his hometown last week to see his spring game in-person.

Franks chose the Tigers over major offers including Alabama and Georgia, and the Tigers have reeled in a gem for their 2016 class. Franks is the second commit for the Tigers in 2016, joining Donaldsonville WR Stephen Sullivan.

Franks will have a real shot at being the region's top QB in his class, and he'll likely be ranked near the top of the national board as well.

Franks told Scout's Patrick Burnham that the time "just felt right" for him to commit. Click here to read the full interview.

"It (the LSU offensive system) is a lot like my offense, they go from the gun (shotgun formation) a lot and under center some and things like that. I like what they do offensively," Franks said in the interview.

"The first time I went there...I got to meet Coach Cameron and the whole coaching staff," Franks went on to say. "Then on my second visit, they treated me like I was their own son. They were just real nice and down to earth."
