Recruiting dead period begins Monday

A two-week recruiting dead period begins Monday that will last until July 13, giving the LSU coaches and their targets a much needed break from the recruiting grind.

The LSU coaches will get a much needed break from the recruiting grind as a dead period goes into effect starting Monday, June 30, lasting through July 13.

A dead period restricts college coaches from having any in-person contact with prospective student athletes, meaning recruits may not take visits to campuses during this time. Coaches are still allowed though to make telephone calls with recruits and their legal guardians.

There are still seven months to go until National Signing Day for the Class of 2015. Below is a timeline of notable dates for LSU recruiting, building all the way up until these prospects ink their name on National Signing Day.

June 30 - July 13: Dead Period

July 14 - Aug. 30: Quiet Period

July 19: 7-on-7 Tournament, Linemen camp

July 20: Special Teams camp

July 24 - 26: Elite High School camp

August/September: Recruits may start taking official visits on opening day of classes their senior year

Aug. 4: LSU opens pre-season practice

Sept. 1 - Nov. 29: Evaluation Period (42 evaluation days)

Sept. 6: LSU's home opener vs. Sam Houston State

Nov. 30 - Dec. 14: Contact Period (Six in-person, off-campus contacts per recruit)

Dec. 15 - Jan. 14: Dead Period

Jan. 15 - Jan. 31: Contact Period

Feb. 1: Quiet Period

Feb. 2 - 5: Dead Period

Feb. 4: National Signing Day - Class of 2015
