Blakeney feeling the love from LSU

The LSU staff, led by assistant David Patrick, has been on five-star shooting guard Antonio Blakeney for some time. Inside Blakeney tells TSD where the Tigers stand and discusses his connections with the program.

Five-star shooting guard Antonio Blakeney (Oak Ridge HS/Orlando, FL) continues to be one of the most sought-after prospects in the Class of 2015.

Already overflowing with offers from the likes of Louisville, Florida, Miami and Florida State, Blakeney added two more in the last week when bluebloods Kentucky and North Carolina entered the mix.

But there’s one other program that through it all has been a constant in the hunt for Blakeney – LSU.

The Each 1 Teach 1 AAU player, who lists himself at 6-foot-4 and 180 pounds, recently discussed with TSD where the Tigers stand and various connections he has to the program.

---------------------------

On if LSU has made him a priority . . .

“I have a good relationship with them, and I have felt the love. They’re at all my games (this summer) and stuff like that. Usually I look down and see like three of them standing together.”

On where the Tigers stand . . .

“I like them a lot, just like I like everybody who really likes me a lot.”

What does he know about LSU?

“I’m still learning. I hear it’s a really good place. I know they’re one of the best in the SEC.”

Will LSU get one of his visits?

“It’s too soon to tell. Maybe, I’d say more than likely. I’m just not sure yet.”

On how LSU coaches say they’d use him . . .

“They’re going to want me to come in and score and just play as hard as I can on both ends.”

On part E1T1 teammate Ben Simmons plays in his interest . . .

“That’s part of it. Ben’s a real good player. That is definitely part of it.”

Does Simmons attempt to recruit him?

“He talks to me a lot about it. I wouldn’t say he’s bugging me about it, but every once and again he brings it up.”

On what’s important to him in college decision . . .

“My relationship with the coaches, the situation that I’d be going into and then how the coaching staff develops players.”

On his relationship with LSU assistant David Patrick . . .

“Me and coach talk almost every day. I know him real well and I feel very comfortable with him. I always know I can talk to him about anything.”

As Blakeney reiterated to Scout’s Jeff Drummond at the Peach Jam last week, he plans to make a decision in the fall.

TSD will continue to monitor Blakeney’s recruitment and bring you the latest on Scout’s No. 5 shooting guard and No. 20 overall prospect in the 2015 class.
