LSU to play in ESPN's Tip-Off Marathon

LSU will face Texas Tech on Nov. 18 as part of ESPN's annual 24-hour marathon of college basketball.

ESPN's 24-hour Tip-Off Marathon has become an annual tradition in college basketball, and LSU will take part for the second straight season.

LSU announced Monday the Tigers will host Texas Tech at 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 18 as part of the marathon. Last year LSU faced UMass in an early morning road game, but this time the Tigers will be in the PMAC for a primetime contest on ESPN2.

This will be the second half of a home-and-home series between LSU and Texas Tech. The Tigers won last year's meeting, 71-69, in Lubbock, Texas.

“We are excited that the LSU basketball program will be featured again during this year’s Tip-Off Marathon,” said LSU Coach Johnny Jones in a release. “The event has become a November showcase of college basketball, and we look forward to hosting one of the Marathon games at the Maravich Center in primetime against a talented Texas Tech team. This will be a tough challenge in preparation for our trip to the Virgin Islands where we begin play on Nov. 21.”

The Red Raiders were 14-18 (6-12, Big 12) last year in Tubby Smith's first season with the program.
