LSU Baseball adds commit from top 2016 RHP

LSU Baseball landed a commitment from Riley Pint, one of the nation's best pitching prospects for 2016 with a fastball that touches 96 mph.

LSU Baseball continues its hot run on the recruiting trail.

The Tigers picked up their fifth commitment in less than two weeks on Tuesday. The latest addition comes from 2016 RHP Riley Pint (Lenexa, Kan.), who visited Baton Rouge over the weekend.

Pint's considered one of the nation's best pitching prospects heading into his junior year. He was absolutely dominant on the summer circuit, flashing a fastball that consistently sits between 94-96 mph. He also has a plus-breaking ball and change-up, giving him a solid three-pitch mix with the potential to be at the top of the rotation on the college level.

LSU has accomplished one step by getting him to commit, but the Tigers still have a long way to go before they can ensure he makes it to campus.

Pint will be one of the top prospects for the 2016 MLB Draft, undoubtedly a first-round talent. Even if Pint signs his letter of intent in November 2015, the Tigers will have to fend off the professional clubs that will be knocking down Pint's door to express interest.

But LSU is no stranger to that process. The Tigers were able to retain elite pitchers in the 2014 class like Mac Marshall, Jake Latz and Alex Lange, despite them having high draft grades. Now Pint figures to be one to watch, but at least for now, he's a solid LSU commit.

Pint gives the Tigers eight commits for the 2016 class, with 10 more committed in 2015. Check out the full commit list here and discuss Pint's commitment and the rest of LSU Baseball's recruiting efforts on the TSD Message Board linked below.
