LSU commit Matt Womack set to visit elsewhere

LSU OT commit Matt Womack has added a pair of SEC offers this month, and now he's locked in an official visit to check one of them out.

Three-star offensive tackle Matt Womack remains committed to LSU, but he's still receiving plenty of attention from the SEC.

Womack took an unofficial visit to Alabama last weekend. He left Tuscaloosa with an offer from the Tide. On Thursday, Florida dialed up Womack and extended him an offer, his second from the SEC in a week's time.

Now it would appear the Gators have his attention. According to Scout's Chad Simmons, Womack has scheduled an official visit to Florida for the weekend of Oct. 18. An official visit to Alabama is also in the works.

Womack is now considered a "soft commit" to LSU because he has a visit scheduled elsewhere. He has already signed a financial aid agreement with the Tigers, planning to enroll this January. That gives the LSU coaching staff unlimited contact with Womack, but it does not bind him to the school. Womack has said though that he won't sign with any other schools, giving the Tigers a considerable advantage over any other suitors.

Still, the Tigers will have a close eye on Womack as he takes these visits to other programs. He'll be in Baton Rouge this weekend for LSU's SEC opener against Mississippi State. That will give the LSU coaches an opportunity to remind him of what made LSU his top choice in the first place.
