VIDEO: Darcy Malone talks inside role

Seven-foot sophomore Darcy Malone explains how his on-court role is changing from year one to year two. The native Australian also talks about LSU's varying frontcourt options.

One of the players LSU basketball will rely on more this season than last is sophomore Darcy Malone.

The seven-foot Aussie mostly served as a reserve stretch four as a freshman, but in 2014-15 he explains his role is likely to be closer to the basket, helping the Tigers rebound and protect the rim with three-year post mainstay Johnny O'Bryant departed.

Check out the video below to see how Malone is preparing for that task, including tacking on weight in the offseason and his take on LSU's versatility up front.

Publisher's Note: The audio cuts out before my final question on fellow Australian Ben Simmons, a 2015 commit for the Tigers. Malone spoke of the duo's time together on the U-19 Aussie team and said he had no doubt Simmons will "do great things" for LSU from the moment he arrives.
