"Late in the fourth quarter of tonight's LSU football game against Ole Miss, an adult male suffered a heart attack in the lower bowl of the south endzone at Tiger Stadium. Emergency medical personnel responded to the incident but efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful. LSU offers its condolences to his family."

According to a Sunday afternoon report by the Daily Reveille, East Baton Rouge parish coroner Dr. Beau Clark identified the man as 59-year-old Brian Tingley. Clark told the Reveille that the preliminary cause of death is related to cardiovascular disease and Tingley complained of chest pains before the incident.

Some early rumors were that the death was involved with the storming of the field by fans after the win. LSU denied that by saying the man was in the stands and suffered the heart attack before the game was over.
