Bradley Dale Peveto will spend some time in Georgia on Friday to check in on top linebacker target Adonis Thomas, according to Scout's Chad Simmons. Thomas recently reopened his recruitment, dropping his commitment to Florida amidst the turmoil regarding Will Muschamp's job security. Thomas had been wavering for quite some time, and LSU did its best to remain in the picture.
Thomas is scheduled to take his official visit to Baton Rouge the weekend of Dec. 5, and that will give LSU its first opportunity to make a big impression. The Tigers have a major need at linebacker in the 2015 class, and Thomas is a major priority.
Alabama seems the Tigers' stiffest competition at this point, and they to have a coach checking in on him Friday. Look for several other schools to join the hunt now that he's officially back on the market.
Speaking of linebackers, Les Miles himself was on the trail Thursday to check on a top LB. Ole Miss commit Leo Lewis tweeted that the LSU head coach attended his game Thursday night, and it left a big impression on him.
Coach Les Miles is the first Head Coach to come see me play . That says a lot on their end .— Leo Lewis (@TheLeoLewis_40) October 31, 2014
Lewis was on campus just last weekend to see the Tigers upset Ole Miss. LSU has been on him for quite some time, long before he made his first commitment to Alabama, which he eventually dropped to go with the Rebels. LSU feels his recruitment is far from over, and they're making a big push to add Lewis to their class.
We've also confirmed the travel details of one other LSU assistant. According to Ben Love, offensive line coach Jeff Grimes will make a sweep through Florida on Friday. While there are a number of offensive linemen in the Sunshine State, priority No. 1 has to be North Carolina commit William Sweet.
The four-star tackle visited Baton Rouge over the summer, and the Tigers definitely remain in the hunt. He's expected to take an official visit to LSU for the Alabama game on Nov. 8, and though he remains committed to the Tar Heels, the Tigers feel they have a very legitimate shot at flipping this big-time prospect.
Stay tuned to TSD as we gather more information on where the LSU coaches are recruiting during the bye week. Track it all in the thread below.
