The five-star Aussie officially signed Wednesday his National Letter of Intent with LSU, making him for now the lone member of the Tigers' 2015 signing class. Simmons is quite possibly the biggest recruit LSU has landed in decades, ranking as the No. 2 overall player in the nation.
Simmons has been committed to LSU since October 2013. With assistant coach David Patrick as his godfather, that relationship proved to be the advantage LSU needed to reel in this elite prospect. He serves as a huge feather in the cap of Johnny Jones as he continues to make headway in recruiting while at LSU.
Simmons never wavered in his pledge to the Tigers. He's made no secret out of his love for LSU, and he has turned into an ambassador of sorts, trying to help reel in some other big-time recruits. He was in Baton Rouge this past weekend for an unofficial visit, joining top LSU targets Antonio Blakeney and JaQuan Lyle on their officials.
While those other two are still on the board, Simmons' recruitment has officially closed. He signed his NLI during a ceremony Wednesday afternoon at his high school, Montverde Academy in Florida, and he'll officially enroll at LSU this summer.
