2015 running back Nicholas Brossette remains committed to LSU, but he plans to take official visits to at least two other schools.
He’s already taken one trip to Notre Dame earlier this fall, and he’ll visit Texas and Arizona State after the season.
“I just want to look at other places,” Brossette said. “It’s nothing big. That’s really about it, just to go see new things.”
The Sun Devils are a team that’s recently shot up his list. Arizona State recruits Louisiana very heavily, and they’ve sold Brossette on how he’d fit in their system.
“They spread the ball around to their running backs,” he said. “They put them in good positions to make plays, catching the ball and running the ball. So I felt I should give them an official visit.”
Most consider Texas to be the most legitimate threat to LSU when it comes to Brossette’s commitment. The Longhorns have recruited him very heavily since Charlie Strong took over that program, and they’re excited about having him return to campus soon.
“They’ve been looking forward to it since the last time I went up there [this summer],” Brossette said. “I’m going to enjoy the visit, then just come back and home and focus on everything.”
The attention Texas shows Brossette has really resonated with him.
“They’re making me a priority,” Brossette said. “I talk to the coaches every week, so that’s a big thing for me. It means a lot. They’re just trying to open their arms up to me and welcome me into their family.”
But that doesn’t mean LSU has left the picture. Brossette feels just as comfortable around the Tigers’ coaching staff, considering them part of his family.
“It’s the same thing with [running backs] Coach Frank [Wilson],” he said. “I treat him like family because he’s been in my life since I was in eighth grade. That’s the biggest thing, and it’s really the whole coaching staff, even Coach Miles. I have a personal relationship with him.”
LSU’s used to seeing its commits take visits elsewhere, and they’re confident Brossette will stay nearby once it’s time to make a final decision.
“They just tell me to go have fun, come home and get ready for the grind.”
