Four-star Brandon Sampson will wait to sign

Brandon Sampson ended speculation that he could sign in the early period, telling Scout on Tuesday night he plans to wait until April for several reasons. Read/watch more from the four-star guard inside.

On the eve of the Early Signing Period’s final day, four-star guard Brandon Sampson (Madison Prep/Baton Rouge) confirmed he will wait until April to sign in the regular period.

Sampson, whose Chargers won their opener Tuesday night 56-46 over St. Michael and four-star wing Jacob Evans, said he’s still considering LSU, St. John’s, California, USC and UCLA.

The highest rated player in Louisiana for 2015 made no bones about the fact that waiting can work to his advantage, not only to watch the movement of other guards around the country but to take in each program’s play in the 2014-15 season.

“Somewhat (about waiting for me) because you never know, maybe somebody might sign to their certain college and then maybe Kansas, Kentucky might come in. You never know,” Sampson told TSD. “It’s not a bad thing waiting. You get to see how things play out, how people coach, how they play – fast or slow – and run sets. It’s kind of like that.”

Sampson has already taken all five of his official visits. He discussed other aspects of his recruitment in the video below, including what he gained from those visits, as well as his talented 2017 teammate Josh Anderson, who poured in 27 points in Madison Prep’s season-opening win.
