Leonard Fournette the SEC Freshman of Week

The SEC named LSU running back Leonard Fournette the Freshman of the Week for the third time this season

LSU running back Leonard Fournette followed up another electric performance with an award.

The SEC tabbed Fournette on Monday as the conference Freshman of the Week after racking up a career-high 146 rushing yards against Texas A&M. He also had a 22-yard touchdown run that included one of the highlights of the season.

That's the third time this season he's landed this honor. He previously earned the award for his games against Florida and Ole Miss.

Fournette finished the regular season with 891 rushing yards, eight touchdowns and a 5.1 yard-per-carry average. He also had 127 receiving yards.

He needs 111 yards in the bowl game to break the single season record for most rushing yards by a freshman, held by Justin Vincent (1,001 - 2003).

Other LSU players to receive SEC honors this season:

Brandon Harris - Freshman of the Week (New Mexico State)
Vadal Alexander - Offensive Lineman of the Week (Florida)
Kendell Beckwith - Defensive Player of the Week (Ole Miss)
