Les Miles and Steve Ensminger traveled to Mesquite, Texas, on Monday to visit with this five-star linebacker. Jefferson took his official visit to Baton Rouge on Nov. 8, so the Tigers aimed to remind Jefferson of those positive feelings from his visit.
This in-home was big as the Tiger coaches were able to spend time with Jefferson's parents. Only his mother made the visit to LSU last month, so getting the dad on board is just as important.
Jefferson will announce his commitment on Dec. 19, and he recently announced his seven finalists. LSU made the cut along with Texas A&M, Texas, Baylor, TCU, Oklahoma and UCLA. Most feel the Aggies are the teams to beat, with Texas being another strong contender. The Tigers believe they're the team to beat if he opts to head out of state.
LSU and Texas A&M are the only two schools to which he's taken official visits at this point. His trip to College Station came the week after the one to Baton Rouge, giving the Aggies an opportunity to counter all momentum gained by the Tigers.
So LSU hoped to get that back during their in-home visit Monday night. We'll find out soon whether that was enough.
