But Les Miles — or at least someone posting from his account — sent one Thursday evening loaded with subtext.
From your permanent SEC Western Division opponent, welcome back to league Coach McElwain. Will enjoy continued great competition w/ Florida.— Les Miles (@LSUCoachMiles) December 4, 2014
Take it for face value and it's an innocent welcoming to the SEC from Miles to Florida's new coach, Jim McElwain. The two battled while McElwain was the offensive coordinator at Alabama, and Miles is looking forward to renewing the rivalry.
If you want to cause a bit more of a stir though, you can gather a bit more from Miles' tweet.
If Miles will indeed "enjoy continued great competition" with Florida, then that gives the impression he'll be at LSU for years to come. You can't hide from the endless speculation linking him to the open Michigan job, whether it's legitimate or not. But based on this tweet, Miles gives the impression he isn't going anywhere.
Then there's the snide remark about being Florida's permanent opponent. Miles and LSU AD Joe Alleva were vocal opposers to the SEC's scheduling policy linking them to the Gators each season. Though their battle failed, Miles still seems ready to take a jab or two at the conference.
But hey, maybe we're all just a little bored with no more football, and we want to make something out of nothing. Maybe Miles just wanted to say something nice to Florida's new coach.
Or we can have some fun and overanalyze Miles' social media presence!
