More from Miles Presser

After the obligatory (off-record) Michigan talk, Les Miles touched on a number of other issues Monday night, including injury updates on Kenny Hilliard and Elliott Porter.

Les Miles met with the media for the first time in more than a week Monday evening, previewing bowl season and practices for LSU (8-4) and the Tigers’ opponent in the Music City Bowl Dec. 27, Notre Dame (8-4).

Miles spoke to a number of topics during the interview session, including the inevitable Michigan thread, but he also updated injury/suspension status on a few players and also discussed potential early entrants to the NFL Draft.

On the injury front, he indicated running back Kenny Hilliard (shoulder) may well be back and able to play in the bowl game but that the prognosis for center Elliott Porter (undisclosed injury) isn't as good.

He also reiterated that indefinitely suspended cornerback Rashard Robinson is not practicing with the team and won't play in the Dec. 27 game against the Fighting Irish in Nashville.

Here is a transcript of the rest of Miles' most relevant comments.

On why Notre Dame struggled down stretch ...

"I don't know. I know one thing, Coach [Brian] Kelly does a great job preparing them. You can see that they're well-coached. I recognize they're a very good football team."

On saying goodbye to seniors and last night's banquet ...

"We said goodbye to 22 seniors last night. They're a quality group of men. The team talks about their time here. What they don't realize is the impact they have on the people here ... We will legitimately miss them as men and friends."

On more P.T. for Brandon Harris, backups ...

"We’re again looking at competition at several spots. We’re giving some other guys an opportunity to play some and see what they have. I think Brandon Harris is being groomed in a like fashion."

On bowl prep planning ...

"We'll switch over to more Notre Dame the third practice. From that point forward really. We're going the first two practices quick-paced, all LSU."

On what Jamal Adams brings ...

"It could easily be swagger. It could be energy and enthusiasm and want to play and excitement about making a play. I think it's infectious. I think he's a leader by example."

On early entrants ...

"Its not a recruiting pitch (to them). You're just revealing certain observations." (Then asked about fact that only five can get draft grades this year) "We've petitioned more than five to get the grades."
