The prevailing story on the Irish side is that redshirt sophomore Malik Zaire will make his first career start at quarterback in place of Everett Golson, who was the starter in the team's first 12 games of the season.
"We'll learn a lot about him tomorrow," Kelly said.
Kelly also spoke multiple times to the physical nature LSU plays with, something that will be a challenge for Notre Dame.
"There's a good and physical offense that LSU possesses, an incredible run game," continued Kelly. "I've got to keep that physical offense that LSU has off the field. Certainly we have to take our shots. We have some perimeter guys that will have to make plays against some very, very good (defenders)."
Here is a transcript of the rest of the relevant comments from Kelly and Miles.
Miles' Opening Statement"At the end of the season what we wanted was a traditional football power to play and a great venue. I think the Music City Bowl is that. The hospitality of the committee to make things available to our players (is great) ... It is structured very much like a marquee bowl, a BCS bowl."
Miles on LP Field ..."It's a fast track, low-to-go. They didn't have a slip in the game yesterday, which is a tremendous thing."
Kelly on Zaire's progress ..."His understanding of what we're doing offensively ... Just being so much more comfortable with what we're doing and how we're constructing from week to week. Having said that he's got a small resume, so he's still got to show he can do it in the game.
"In practice he's showed command, he's shown confidence to run the offense the way that I want him to. Now he's got to go do it with the lights on."
Miles on if bowl is a spring board for 2015 ..."I think it absolutely could. I think we lose sight about what's about to happen talking about that ... It really is about tomorrow and sending the seniors off in the right way. That sends the exact right message to your juniors about we could have a great team. We're focused on tomorrow afternoon."
Kelly on playing LSU ..."There's nowhere to hide tomorrow. You're not going to hide against LSU ... That's a great way to evaluate where you are."
Miles on team rebounding midseason ..."We have real strong character on our team. I think they were ambitious about who they wanted to be. I looked in the early part of the season, we had a true freshman starting in the two-technique. He's going to be a great player, but it takes you some time of getting the feel of an offensive linemen coming off. Now we've got a sophomore and true freshman playing in my opinion (the best ball we've had in there in a while).
"This team didn't need rallying. They said 'Okay, coach, tell us what you need because we're capable.' I've really enjoyed this team."
Miles on potential Jim Harbaugh hire at Michigan ..."I'm very happy that Michigan's made a selection and got a very quality coach. It's just a matter of time before they return to prominence. Go Blue."
Kelly on recruiting in south Louisiana ..."If you can get in and find a school or home that doesn't have purple, we would certainly love to."
