Three-star cornerback Ugo Amadi announced his commitment Tuesday during a ceremony at his high school. The Nashville native chose the Tigers over home-state Tennessee after decommitting from Ole Miss earlier this month.
Amadi will sign his financial aid agreement with LSU and enroll in time for the spring semester.
Amadi is one of several recruits LSU has targeted from the Nashville area. His close friend Kyle Phillips, a four-star defensive end, will announce his commitment Saturday during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. His three finalists are LSU, Tennessee and Ole Miss, and most expect Phillips to follow Amadi to Baton Rouge.
Amadi took multiple unofficial visits since the spring. He came with Phillips to the Bayou Picnic in May and also spent some time in Baton Rouge over the summer. Amadi originally planned to take an official visit to LSU the weekend of Jan. 16, then make his decision. But Amadi decided not to wait and opted to commit before the new year.
Amadi becomes the fourth defensive back to join LSU's 2015 class. He projects as a corner on the next level, though his earliest impact will likely come on special teams.
The Tigers now have 16 total commits for 2015, and Amadi is the sixth expected to enroll early, joining Jeremy Cutrer, Hanner Shipley, Justin McMillan, David Ducre and Kevin Toliver.
