Kwon Alexander announced Wednesday that he will forego his senior season and declare for the NFL Draft.
He made his decision public via Twitter:
Alexander was one of five LSU underclassmen to submit for an evaluation from the NFL, though his draft grade has not been made public.
Alexander started all but one game this season, leading the team with 90 total tackles (40 unassisted). He was tied for second with 7.5 tackles for loss and had 1.5 sacks. He also forced two fumbles and recorded five quarterback hurries.
Alexander was a three-year starter for the Tigers at outside linebacker. He entered the starting lineup as a freshman in 2012, making his first career start in the fifth game of the season. He suffered a season-ending broken ankle a week later against Florida after recording 11 tackles in seven games.
He returned the following season as the Tigers' starter on the strong side. He made nine starts and finished fourth on the team with 65 tackles.
That injury he suffered in 2012 was the second major leg injury of his football career. He missed most of his senior year of high school with a knee injury.
Alexander is the first LSU player to officially put his name in the running for the NFL. Jalen Collins, Danielle Hunter, Vadal Alexander and Jerald Hawkins were the other four Tigers to receive draft grades from the NFL.
