VIDEO: Cameron Lard Updates Recruitment

Natchitoches Central big man Cameron Lard is one of the most coveted players in the state. Watch the 2016 power forward discuss his future and the Chiefs' present with TSD's Ben Love.

WESTWEGO – It's not an exaggeration to suggest Cameron Lard is the top big man in the state of Louisiana.

The 2016 power forward exploded onto the scene during a state championship run a season ago for Natchitoches Central, lighting up Scotlandville in the 5A state title game to the tune of 24 points, 10 rebounds and seven blocks. For his efforts Lard was named Most Outstanding Player from the 5A playoffs.

Now in his junior campaign, Lard, a shade over 6-foot-9 and weighing 215 pounds, is picking up where he left off.

The Chiefs are off to a 16-2 start, having lost two games to top-flight Texas teams in the Lone Star State while maintaining an undefeated mark versus Louisiana-based teams.

Lard is picking up plenty of attention for his exploits, too.

According to the player he's either received an offer or is getting interest from Kansas State, Baylor, UNO, Northwestern State, Louisiana Tech, Vanderbilt, West Virginia, New Mexico, Texas A&M and UT-Arlington, among others.

Watch TSD's video interview with Lard, live from the Alario Center, below. The power forward touched on NCHS' improvement, mastering the high-low game with frontcourt partner Austin Guy (a college prospect in basketball and football, where he plays quarterback) and more.
