Postgame Video: Hornsby, Quarterman

Following another tight Tiger win, guards Keith Hornsby and Tim Quarterman discussed closing out the Gamecocks, a big block by Hornsby, back-filling for Jalyn Patterson and where LSU is seven games into SEC play.

There was plenty to discuss for Keith Hornsby and Tim Quarterman following the Tigers' 64-58 win over South Carolina (10-9, 1-6) Wednesday night in the PMAC.

The perimeter players touched on Hornsby's crucial, game-preserving block late, how the team filled in for an injured Jalyn Patterson and, in a big-picture view, where LSU (16-4, 5-2) is compared to where they both thought the team would be nearing the midway point of the conference schedule.

Quarterman quote on playing without Patterson

"Some others players had to step up. I think Darcy did a good job tonight. Aaron came in and gave us some good minutes tonight. It's just (about) being ready when your name's called. We've got a good bench. They go hard in practice every day, so they should be ready every time their name's called."

Hornsby on if that was biggest block of his career

"Completely. I haven't had many. But yeah, I was just in the right position, timed it right. I think I've had more blocks this year than I've ever had. I think it's just getting older and more brave. That was definitely the biggest block I've ever had."

Hornsby's take on LSU through seven SEC games

"We're happy with 5-2. Obviously the losses we had are disappointing because we know the potential and we know the importance of each game, but we're just looking forward to ride this three-game win streak. Just hoping to continue it. Games like this are valuable experiences for us because closing games out is something we weren't good at at the beginning of the year but have gotten better at."
