Who will it be for Arden Key?

Four-star defensive end Arden Key announces his commitment Monday night a 9 p.m. (CT). TSD's Hunter Paniagua previews his decision and makes his final prediction

WHEN: 9 p.m., Friday; NEXT Class 2015, Fox Sports South
FINALISTS: LSU, South Carolina
RANKING: No. 105 overall, No. 9 DE, No. 12 Georgia

LOWDOWN: Key is down to two schools after canceling this past weekend's visit to Auburn. It's now just LSU and South Carolina, with LSU hoping to land its top defensive end target and the Gamecocks want to bring Key back in the class for the third time.

Key committed to South Carolina on two separate occasions and decommitted both times, most recently on Jan. 7. He kept the Gamecocks alive in his recruitment though and took a visit there the weekend of Jan. 23. South Carolina didn't show him anything he hadn't seen before, as he'd been to that campus so many times already. But that comfort is something that is definitely playing in the Gamecocks' favor. He also has a great relationship with Lorenzo Ward, who's been retained on that staff despite being demoted from defensive coordinator. It would be an unprecedented move for a recruit to commit to the same school three different times, but South Carolina's holding out hope that it'll happen.

LSU's had a lot of momentum though, which really reached its peak when he took his official visit on Jan. 16. That was his third visit to LSU's campus, but his first with the new defensive coaches. Ed Orgeron has done a great job to take over for Brick Haley in leading Key's recruitment, and there was no chemistry lost in the transition. Coach O absolutely won over Key and his family during the visit, and this could definitely be the first big feather in O's cap with the Tigers. LSU's tried selling Key on being the next Barkevious Mingo, and that's a role Key's very receptive to taking. The Tigers' defensive line reputation also is a big factor. All those signs seem to be pointing toward LSU at the moment.

PREDICTION: We're going with LSU to land Key and address a huge need at defensive end. LSU has been riding a lot of momentum with key for more than a month, and that's only gotten stronger the closer we get to NSD. LSU can offer Key an opportunity to play significantly as a freshman in a defense that's been known to produce NFL talent. We predict that LSU will land its 20th commit late Monday night.
