The three best safeties in the country all reside in Southeast Texas, and all three are expected to be in Baton Rouge this weekend.
No. 1 Brandon Jones (Nacogdoches), No. 2 Eric Monroe (North Shore) and No. 3 Deontay Anderson (Manvel) all plan to attend the Tigers' national junior day Saturday, giving the Tigers a great opportunity to reel in top defensive backs. All three of those have also been to LSU's campus before, and the Tigers figure to be legitimate contenders for each one.
Anderson was just in Baton Rouge two weekends ago. He was a special invite to the "Boys from the Boot" junior day, typically for Louisiana's top recruits. LSU's fighting several other schools for Anderson's commitment. He released a Top 10 on Wednesday that included LSU, Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M and USC.
Baylor, Texas and Texas A&M are all considered in the mix for Monroe, who has also named LSU his leader at certain points during his recruitment. Anderson has as well, and the Tigers would love to reel in both of these safeties.
Monroe and Anderson both attended LSU's season opener in Reliant Stadium, with both coming to a game in Tiger Stadium as well.
The Tigers also figure to be a possible destination for Jones, the nation's top safety. Texas A&M, Texas, Alabama, Ohio State and Florida State were in his most recent Top Six along with LSU. The Tigers get another chance to leave a big impression on him this weekend.
