Tim Quarterman named SEC Player of the Week

On the heels of making history Saturday, LSU guard Tim Quarterman dragged home conference hardware on Monday for his sterling play last week.

LSU sophomore guard Tim Quarterman was rewarded Monday for a week well played and for conjuring up memories of Shaquille O'Neal and Pete Maravich.

Quarterman, who posted only the eighth triple-double in school history Saturday during the Tigers' 73-63 win over Ole Miss, averaged 13 points, 6.5 rebounds and 8.0 assists over a two-game stretch that also included a road win at Auburn.

His masterpiece, though, came over the weekend, registering 18 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists while simultaneously serving as a defensive nuisance in the face of the Rebels' Stefan Moody, who slumped to a 3-of-16 shooting day.

Also impressive is that Quarterman, operating mostly at the point, totaled only four turnovers in the two ballgames over the course of 70 minutes played.

For the season the Savannah native is averaging 11.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists while playing 33.3 minutes an outing.
